Matthew Squire, chief technology officer at Hatteras Networks, is the newest member of the board of directors for the Metro Ethernet Forum.
The Forum helps establish networking standards. Squire has been active in the group since its founding. He has also served as editor of the development of the service operations, administration and maintenance specification. Metro Ethernet utilizes technology to offer broadband services over existing copper infrastructure.
Squire is also active in several other industry organizations dealing with networking issues and standards.
“The MEF has clearly differentiated itself as the key industry group focused on advancing carrier deployments of Metro Ethernet, creating clear service definitions and technical specifications that are shaping how Ethernet services are created and deployed,” said Squire. “I look forward to working as part of the MEF’s board of directors to address the next wave of Metro Ethernet as it expands out over the copper network, creating new service opportunities for carriers worldwide.”
