CLEMSON,Clemson University has received $5 million to build an Innovation Center at Clemson Research Park.

The funds were approved by the South Carolina Research Centers of Economic Excellence Review Board last week.

The Center will cover 40,000 square feet and is designed to serve as a home for emerging high-tech companies focused on photonics, nanotechnology and biomaterials as well as other entrepreneurial start-ups and spin-off companies utilizing technology from Clemson.

The state funds were matched by $1.5 million from the Anderson County Development Partnership and $4.3 million from the South Carolina Research Authority.
