Motricity, a provider of mobile content and solutions, is teaming up with Matrix Semiconductor to package content on Matrix memory cards.

The companies plan to package both content and applications on the cards, which are designed to fit into card slots on mobile devices. The cards are as much as 50 percent less expensive than flash memory devices, according to Matrix.

The partnership was announced at Mobile Content World in London.

Motricity now has more than 600,000 content titles for use in mobile devices.

“To meet wireless consumers’ growing appetite, we are creating more opportunities for them to access leading content and personalize their mobile device,” sasid Larry Wallace, vice president of business development at Motricity. “Matrix’s memory cards combined with Motricity’s expansive catalog of mobile content make it easier for carriers, handset manufacturers and even retailers to offer consumers greater options and accelerate the adoption of new data services.”
