Inlet, the fast-growing startup focused on high-definition TV and video content applications, will use workstations from HP and Opteron processors from AMD as its core server technology.

Inlet made the announcement at an international media conference in the Netherlands.

Inlet’s encoding solutions will be standardized on the HP xw9300 workstation that incorporates the AMD Opteron processor.

“Inlet’s customers include professional encoders at Hollywood studios, post-production facilities and broadcast companies who face tight deadlines, bandwidth limitations and a number of other challenges on a daily basis,” said John Bishop, Inlet’s senior vice president of business development and strategy. “The last thing they need to worry about is whether or not their workstation can support the creation, review and distribution of their media.”
