RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK — TechMedia, the parent of Triangle TechJournal, is planning to expand its reach with a new regional publication in January.

TechJournal South will focus on technology and life science firms across the southeast and be published on a monthly basis, says Publisher Eric Gregg.

The Triangle TechJournal, which was launched in 2001, will become part of the new publication, TechMedia said. The TechJournal was recognized as the “media company of the year” in 2004 by the North Carolina Technology Association.

Coverage area for TechJournal South will range from Washington DC to Florida.

“TechJournal South expands the mission and vision we founded the Triangle TechJournal on — creating a medium to cover the business of technology from biotech to information technology,” Gregg said in a statement. “We’re excited to expand our reach and bring the southeast technology business community together with TechJournal South. The technology industry will continue to drive the future of the economy in the southeast and we plan to be a leading voice of that economy.”

The newspaper will include corporate profiles, funding updates and other news such as executive hires. Subscriptions will be free of charged to qualified readers.
