Managers needing to outsource communication projects sometimes overlook independent professionals because finding them can be hit or miss.

Founded in 2004, The Triangle-based Independent Communicators Alliance (ICA), recently launched a Web site (www.icatriangle.org) to help businesses, nonprofits and individuals find experienced, professional independent communicators as freelance help.

The ICA network includes strategic counselors, writers, editors, graphic and Web designers, video producers, public relations and marketing specialists, event managers and even a book indexer.

“Our goal is to provide one-stop shopping,” said David Rhoades, ICA’s president, and owner of MarketingWorks RTP. “We want business and nonprofit managers to come to ICA and find any kind of communication specialist they need — and trust in our experience.”

Presently, the database of members is searchable by communication specialty or by industry expertise. ICA currently has 45 members.
