IBM has acquired PureEdge Solutions, a developer of e-forms software based in Canada.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. PureEdge was privately held.

The deal will enable IBM to integrate electronic forms functionality into its collaborative solutions such as Workplace, WebSphere and Lotus, Big Blue said in a statement.

“By providing greater efficiency and accuracy than paper forms, e-forms technology helps businesses and organizations more quickly and easily collaborate and share information, which can increase both individual and organizational productivity,” IBM said.

The e-forms technology is based on extensible markup language (XML).
