Embrex, a provider of services to improve poultry through vaccines and therapeutics delivered in eggs, and telecommunications provider FairPoint Communications reported growth is profits on Tuesday.

Embrex reported an 11 percent increase in revenues to just more than $13 million and an eight percent surge in gross profit to $7.5 million for the second quarter.

Net income rose to $1.2 million, up from $800,000 in the same quarter a year ago.

At FairPoint, which is based in Charlotte, operating revenues climbed 4.5 percent to produce a net income of $5.6 million vs. a $4.1 million loss for the same quarter in 2004.
