Niel Ransom, who retired recently as chief technology officer at Alcatel, is the newest member of the board of directors for Overture Networks.
“Niel is one of the networking industry’s most respected leaders and is an impressive addition to our board of directors,” said Jeff Reedy, chief executive officer for Overture Networks, in a statement. “His technical guidance and strategic vision helped Alcatel achieve worldwide market leadership in the mobile, optical and converged packet networking spaces. Niel is an expert in global telecommunications and his seasoned leadership will be invaluable to us, especially now as we continue to expand our operations internationally.”
Ransom was among the early pioneers in development of such broadband services as ADSL and fiber as well as Ethernet and Internet Protocol-based packet technology. He had worked at Alcatel since 1997 after stints at BellSouth and Bell Labs.
Overture is focused on enabling of high-speed services over metro area networks.
