Oppie Jordan, chairman of the e-NC Authority, has been reappointed head of the group by Governor Mike Easley.

e-NC is charged with driving high-speed Internet access and use of Internet services across the state.

“Oppie continually gives her heart and soul to the people of North Carolina,” said Jane Smith Patterson, executive director of the e-NC Authority. “The e-NC Authority is fortunate to have someone with such dedication and tenacity reappointed as its leader.”

e-NC has launched four “telecenters” as technology-based jobs hubs and is developing four new ones in addition to its broadband efforts.
Jordan is a vice president of economic development for Carolinas Gateway Partnership in Rocky Mount. She was named chair of the 15-member board that oversees e-NC in 2003. Jordan also was a commissioner with the Rural Internet Access Authority, the organization that preceded e-NC.
