Li-An Yeh, a biochemist, will be the first director of the Biomanufacturing Research and Technology Institute (BRITE) at North Carolina Central University.

The institute will begin accepting students for the 2006-7 academic year.

Yeh, who most recently worked for Eli Lilly as a research advisor in lead generation biology, has more than 21 years of experience in biomedical and research experience. She has worked for Pfizer, OsteoArthritis Sciences, Phytera, NEN Life Science Products and the Harvard Center for Neurodegeneration and Repair.
