Marketing agency WebsiteBiz is rolling out a new product to help clients fight an emerging problem called “click fraud”.

Its ClickGuard offering includes click fraud auditing and refund negotiation services.

Click fraud occurs when search engine “pay for click” services are abused by individuals hired by competitors to drive up costs or by automatic programs, forcing cost-per-click clients to pay for site visits from prospective customers that did not occur.

“Our fraud detection technology audits cost per click (CPC) traffic looking for suspicious patterns and data that may negatively impact our client’s return on investment,” said Eric Dudley, president of WebsiteBiz. “Potential click fraud is tracked, analyzed, and documented. WebsiteBiz presents the data to the search engines for the purpose of negotiating and obtaining applicable credits and refunds for our clients.”
