AT&T plans to offer a wireless broadband trial based on WiMax technology in Atlanta in the fourth quarter of this year, Telephony Online reports.

AT&T has run one trial in Middleton NJ.

The publication quoted at AT&T spokesman as saying that AT&T would install four towers in downtown Atlanta for the trial.

WiMax technology delivers data and information at up to 75 megabits per second across a range of up to 30 miles. WiFi, on the other hand, has range of just a few hundred feet.
