COLUMBIA,Nextel, which plans to merge with Sprint this summer, is expanding its network coverage of South Carolina.

The wireless service provider said it has added 3,815 square miles of “enhanced” coverage area for a variety of voice and data services.
The expansion centered around the I-26 and I-20 corridors as well as the Columbia, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Greenville, Spartanburg, Florence, Orangeburg, Newberry, Sumter, Lexington and Camden metro markets.
