Seagull Software, a provider of legacy application transformation services, is acquiring privately held Oak Grove Systems, which develops business process management solutions.

Terms were not disclosed.

Seagull (AEX: Seagull) applications are installed on more than 8,000 enterprise networks worldwide. The company said it plans to incorporate Oak Grove’s application into its LegaSuite platform.

“Seagull Software’s vision is to dominate the market for transforming mainframe applications into web services and SOA (service-oriented architecture) assets, and we view business process management as an essential element of a complete, high-performance solution for the large enterprise,” said Don Addington, Seagull’s chief executive officer. “Now our LegaSuite customers not only have the ability to rapidly create web services, they can also put those Web services to work in new composite applications.”

Oak Grove Systems, which is based in Calabasas CA, was launched in 1998. Among its customers are SAS and the US Navy. It is a spin-off of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, utilizing technology developer for use about the International Space Station and space shuttle programs.
