RTP and Atlanta both cracked the top 10 in the third annual “Most Unwired Cities” survey sponsored by Intel.

The Raleigh-Durham area ranks eighth and Atlanta sixth in terms of wireless “hot spots”, broadband, wireless devices and homes using WiFi networks.

The survey is conducted by Sperling’s Best Places and is based on data gathered between Jan. 1-April 15.

The Seattle-Tacoma WA area topped the survey followed by San Francisco/San Jose; Austin/San Marcos; Portland/Vancouver; Toledo OH; Atlanta; Denver; RTP; Minneapolis/St. Paul; and Orange County CA.

Portland and San Francisco ranked first respectively in the initial and second surveys.
