OncoMethylome Sciences will work with Exact Sciences Corporation to develop non-invasive, DNA-based colon cancer screening technology.
OncoMethylome has its US office in Durham and has licensed technology from Johns Hopkins University for use in cancer test development.
The technology focuses on gene methylation, a process in which tumor suppressor gene silencing causes cellular transformation into cancer, according to the company’s web site.
OncoMethylome has already developed applications for prostate cancer and brain cancer applications.
