At its first “Summit” in New Orleans on Tuesday, Red Hat introduced two versions of directory servers based on technology acquired from Netscape.

Directory servers offer more identification and security applications for enterprise networks.

The directory server increases Red Hat’s presence among such competitors as Sun Microsystems, Novell’s SuSE Linux and Microsoft, all of which have proprietary products in the server-software market, NewsFactor reports.
