Quintiles, looking to expand its base for pediatric patients, has formed an alliance with Miami Children’s Hospital to collaborate on research projects.

Quintiles will assist the hospital in upgrading its infrastructure for purposes of supporting additional research, the company said. It also will help the hospital participate in more clinical trials and train new investigators.

The alliance is part of Quintiles’ desire to meet FDA requirements for more pediatric research related to new drug trials.

The hospital treats 185,000 pediatric patients a year.
