Paul Karr, a former executive with Bristol-Myers Squibb, is the new controller at Nortel.

Karr, who took the post earlier this month, is part of a new management team put in place as Nortel has worked its way through financial scandal and executive suite firings. His hiring had been disclosed originally in an SEC filing. Further confirmation came Wednesday in a press release updating Nortel’s financial recovery efforts.

“Karr leads a large, global finance team and is responsible for directing and improving the organization and for the preparation of all external financial reporting in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles,” Nortel said in a statement on Wednesday.

Karr was vice president and financial controller for Bristol-Myers Squibb.
