Although many analysts had expected little revenue growth in 2005 for the semiconductor industry, the Semiconductor Industry Association reported Wednesday that chip revenue increased 13.2 percent in the January through March quarter of 2005. That translates into sales of US$55.3 billion in the first quarter compared to $48.9 billion in the same period last year.
