Nokia is the latest high-tech firm to join the University of Georgia’s Mobile Media Consortium.

Students used new Nokia model 6620 “smartphones” to demonstrate various applications during the consortium’s annual technology demonstration on Saturday. The pones were tied in to Cingular’s so-called EDGE high-speed wireless network.

“The Mobile Media Consortium is discovering the future of mobile media,” said Scott Shamp, director of the Mobile Media Consortium. “With its innovative technology, Nokia is playing a vital role in shaping this future.”
