US LEC Corp. (Nasdaq: CLEC), a telecommunications carrier serving businesses and enterprise organizations throughout the Eastern United States, completes integrating StarNet, a nationwide provider of dial-up Internet access and telephony services to Internet Service Providers (ISPs), which the carrier purchased in late 2004.
With this launch, US LEC now owns and operates a nationwide, seamless network providing local dial-up Internet access for more than 500 ISPs.
“We are pleased that the StarNet integration was completed on time,” said Jeff Blackey, US LEC’s senior vice president of marketing and business development. “This transaction was consistent with US LEC’s strategy of balancing our focus on organic growth, complemented with accretive acquisition opportunities. StarNet has provided us with a seamless nationwide dial-up Internet network, a superior ISP Internet access product in MegaPOP®, and additional resources to further enable our growth strategies.”
