IBM is offering design services to companies that are interested in capitalizing on the new “Cell” chip technology recently developed by IBM, Toshiba and Sony Group.

The Cell processor includes eight separate processors and a power architecture that support speeds in excess of 4 GHz.

“IBM’s new design services could have significant impact on expanding the number of applications that leverage Cell’s unique capabilities,” said Pat Toole, general manager, IBM Engineering & Technology Services, in a statement.

IBM is targeting medical, defense and aerospace clients with what it calls an “innovation on demand” offering.
