Sprint will use microwave technology from Harris Corporation as part of its network strategy over the next four years, the companies said Wednesday.

Sprint will utilize Harris gear for point-to-point microwave transmission for high-speed network data transmission as an alternative to traditional wire line facilities. The agreement calls for Sprint to utilize the equipment in selected markets.

The Harris product selected is called TRuepoint and is labeled as a “next generation” wireless development.

Harris has a major operation in RTP.
