The University of North Carolina at Asheville will host a conference on applied visualization on April 28-29.

The AppliedVis conference will discuss trends and opportunities in using data visualization technologies to explore and create knowledge from that data.

“The modern world creates enormous amounts of data that must be analyzed in order to reveal the information it contains. The visualization of data makes it understandable and thus, useable,” said John Stevens, chief research officer at UNC Asheville.

William Ribarsky, the chair of information technology at UNC Charlotte, will deliver the keynote address on “The promise of Visual Analytics”.
