WAKE FOREST,Golf fans — or followers of Tiger Woods — can tune in for information about the former Masters Champion on their mobile devices through a deal announced by Sprint PCS on Thursday.

The content offering for users of Sprint PCS data services include special ringers, screen savers, and up-to-date news. The service will be available in February.

Sprint PCS already offers a golf game featuring Woods for mobile devices.

Sprint will be the exclusive provider of TigerWoods.com content for mobile users over the next two years.

Part of the content is “Club Tiger Mobile”, which includes statistics, scores, breaking news, photos and tournament schedule as well as golf tips and trivia.

The package price starts at $2 a month.

BellSouth Services on Sale at Cingular

ATLANTA — BellSouth is now offering its services through Cingular wireless stores, the regional Bell telephone company said Thursday.

BellSouth and SBC Communications own Cingular, the nation’s largest wireless provider.

Telephony and entertainment packages will be sold at the Cingular stores and is a parallel development to BellSouth’s expanding plans to sell its services door-to-door. Those offerings include digital subscriber line Internet access and DirecTV. BellSouth also offers a variety of discounts for bundled services.

The door-to-door effort is already underway in Atlanta, Charlotte and Columbia SC.

VoIP Provider Picks Internap

ATLANTA — M5 Networks, a firm that provides voice over Internet protocol services to businesses in the Northeast, will use Internap for Internet and data center services.

M5 Networks is based in New York.

“Superior performance and reliability are the essential foundation of our business operations – and that’s why we’ve chosen Internap,” said John Hendry, chief technology officer of M5 Networks, in a statement. “With VoIP, the quality of voice service is dependent on the underlying network infrastructure and Internap gives us the high level of network performance that our business clients require.”

M5 hosts a customer’s phone system needs at its facilities.

Internap offers high-speed routing and other services through its global data and network operations centers.
