Matthew Petzold, a former chief financial officer with Internet Service Provider UUNet, is the new chief financial officer at Motricity, a developer of content and applications for mobile devices.

Petzold, whose most recent position was with satellite services provider Verestar, is one of several people being hired by Motricity. The company said it is looking to fill more than 30 jobs.

While at UUNET, Petzold was involved in mergers and acquisitions. UUNET is now part of MCI. Petzold also has worked for Arthur Andersen.

Motricity is looking to hire software engineering, quality assurance engineering, operations, marketing and product marketing, business development, content and developer services and human resources.
