BellSouth and the other major regional Bell operating companies asked a federal court on Tuesday to make a quick ruling regarding new Federal Communication Commission regulations.

According to news service reports, BellSouth, Qwest, SBC and Verizon want FCC rules requiring them to sell network access at a discount to competitors to be overturned. The FCC issued new rules in December as part of an eight-year battle over network access.

The requirements for discounts contradict other federal court rulings, the Bells said.
