Note: Story has been updated to reflect launching of new web site related to event. The North Carolina Regional Capital Market Exchange today announced plans to hold nine interactive forums in 2005 designed to connect promising private companies with growth capital resources and leading professional service organizations.

The North Carolina Regional Capital Market Exchange, a joint undertaking by Local Tech Wire, The Corporate Investment Center, Inc., 919 Marketing, Inc., FOCUS Resource Inc. and Ascot Technologies, Inc., announced the expansion based on market response to its inaugural Triangle area event in November 2004.

A new web site has also been launched for the event. (See link below.)

The kick-off event for the 2005 North Carolina Regional Capital Market Exchange is slated for February 22 at the Raleigh Crabtree Marriott. Additional events are planned for March, April, May, June, July, September, October and November.

According to Tom Vass, the organizer of the forum and President of the Corporate Investment Center, Inc., of Raleigh, “We were excited and overwhelmed by the strong feedback from the business and investment communities. They are clearly attracted by the event structure, where featured companies are selected in an open and unbiased way, and the amount of time dedicated to networking before and after the presentations.”

Five promising privately held Triangle based companies, in various stages of growth, are invited to make presentations to attendees about their products and technology. Investors have the opportunity to learn more about a broad spectrum of new companies through an open, fair forum without the prior self-interested screening of closed angel partnerships.

The format for each Capital Market Exchange includes a preliminary 60-minute networking time with wine and food, where the presenting companies can meet potential investors in a social setting. Sponsors and exhibitors also use this time to meet with the companies.

The Capital Market Exchange invites all sources of capital, including angels, venture capitalists, investment bankers, commercial bankers, asset-based lenders, Small Business Investment Corporations, NASD broker/dealers, insurance companies, investment trusts and business development companies that are managing closed end funds.

The goal of inviting multiple sources of capital is to create synergies in the supply side of the capital markets and to encourage the multiple sources of capital to collaborate on making investments.
