China is deploying what is being called the world’s biggest “next generation” Internet. CERNET2 connects 25 universities in 20 cities and utilizes the new Internet standard known as Ipv6. The backbone network reaches speeds of 2.5 to 10 gigabits per second and connects the universities at 1 to 10 gigabits per second, according to NewsFactor.
