RALEIGH -Thomas Vass, president of the Corporate Investment Center, will be among the guest speakers at the Western Regional Science Association conference in San Diego on Feb. 23. The event will be in San Diego.

Vass will discuss the increasing costs of government incentives designed to lure companies, such as North Carolina’s bid to land Dell’s new manufacturing plant, or to encourage retention and expansion of those firms. His discussion will be based on a forthcoming book entitled “Regional Economic Evolution and the Emergence of New Markets”. He has spoken to the group twice in the past four years.

Vass also is the organizer of a series of regional economic events designed to help emerging companies raise capital.

The Western Regional Science Association is a multidisciplinary group of university scholars and government and private-sector members focused on study of geographic regions.
