RTI international has been awarded a $26 million grant to explore the relationship between genetics and immune system response to vaccines.

The study is funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which is part of the National Institutes of Health.

The five-year program will include the immunization of 2,000 Hindi and Muslims in India against cholera and typhoid.

Diane Wagener of RTI will direct the project. Also involved are Duke University, India’s Institute for Molecular Medicine, and the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases.
