The 1,600 people who work for Bayer AG’s plasma division based in RTP and Clayton, NC, are getting new bosses.

Bayer said Monday it was selling the plasma unit to investment groups Cerberus Capital Management and Ampersand Ventures for $590 million in cash and stock. Bayer will keep a 10-percent stake in the new company formed by the investors, NPS BioTherapeutics.

Media reports quoted company officials as saying no layoffs were planned.
