Grant Thornton’s US operations increased revenue 23 percent in fiscal year 2004 to $565 million and has one 1,000 new clients away from the so-called Big 4 auditing firms in two years, the company said Thursday.

The fiscal year ended on July 31.

Grant Thornton drove up revenues in 2003 by 25 percent.

The Carolinas practice of Grant Thornton has been a leader in the growth surge, now standing second among the company’s US-based operations.

“While pleased with our growth as a national firm, I am most proud of our accomplishments in the Carolinas,” said Mike McGuire, Grant Thornton’s Carolinas Managing Partner. “With offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro and Columbia, the Carolinas practice is the second largest U.S. practice in the firm in terms of revenues.”

Grant Thornton International is the world leader in providing services to mid-sized companies. It operates 585 offices in 110 countries. There are 48 offices in the United States.
