David Gilroy, a former partner with the Wakefield Group, has left the firm to join investment bank Hyde Park Capital Advisors.

Gilroy will serve as managing director for investment banking at Hyde Park Capital’s new office in Charlotte. The Charlotte office will serve the Carolinas and Georgia markets, the company said.

The venture capitalist also will help Hyde Park launch a new venture capital operation, he said in a statement.

Gilroy has worked with consulting firm McKinsey & Company, the global management consulting firm, and with industrial firm CRH. He joined Wakefield in 1999 and was involved in 20 investments. He serves on the board of four corporations.

Gilroy also served as interim CEO of Meta Security, an enterprise software and services firm which is based near Charlotte in Cornelius, NC. Wakefield is an investor in Meta.

“This is a unique and compelling opportunity to join one of the fastest growing and top boutique investment banks in the Southeast at a time when they are building extraordinary momentum in the middle-market,” Gilroy said in a statement. “With the leading middle market investment banking franchise in Florida and an excellent reputation within the private equity community nationwide, Hyde Park Capital offers me an outstanding platform from which to grow.”
