Cingular Wireless is setting up a business-focused division, the Business Markets Group, to offer sales and support.

“Business customers have unique and much more complex requirements than consumers,” said Ralph de la Vega, chief operating officer of Cingular, in a statement. “That’s why we’re bringing together under one roof experienced professionals from every part of the company that touches business customers to ensure that we can focus on our clients’ most intricate mission critical voice and data solutions.”

Kent Mathy has been named president of the group.

Following its acquisition of AT&T Wireless, Cingular has customers with 95 of the Fortune 100 companies and more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500 as customers plus more than 1,200 state, federal and local government agencies.
