SAS, working in conjunction with the Salvation Army and using some of its own technology, is raising funds and gifts nationally for thousands of children.

The drive is part of the Salvation Army’s Christmas Angel program.

Using a web site and a payroll deduction system set up by SAS, employees in more than 200 offices were able to participate, the company said. Employees could pick local Salvation Army offices to receive donations.

“This year we’ve tapped into the technological expertise of SAS more than ever before in support of the Angel Tree program,” said George Farthing, community relations manager at SAS. “We’ve got great people all over the country committed to making a difference for others, and this application makes it easy for them.”

SAS offices in Cary, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Dallas also are organizing toy collections.
