EarthLink, CipherTrust and Bank of America are just three of more than 30 companies that are lobbying the Federal trade Commissio0n for email authentication requirements.

The companies signed a letter that will be presented to the FTC this week. It is part of an effort to crack down on unwanted email known as spam.

Other signers include Micorosft, America Online and eBay.

The FTC is hosting an email summit on Nov. 9-10 in Washington, DC.
Among possible controls is the Sender ID Framework (SIDF). Cisco’s Internet Mail and Yahoo’s DomainKeys are also offered as possibilities.
