EarthLink, Matrix Resources, The Weather Channel and Turner Broadcasting Systems walked away the winners in the 2004 Women in Technology’s employer in Georgia awards this week.

The WIT, which is part of the Technology Association of Georgia, selected winners in four categories, with reasons for the selection as provided by WIT:

  • Inclusion: Weather Channel, which offers flexible work options and is committed to developing women leaders, resulting in 42 percent of the Executive Team being comprised of women.

  • Balance: Matrix Resources, which offers a Job Share program that was designed by women for women.

  • Executive Development: Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., which offers executive succession planning, the “Turner Women Today” program and “Turner’s Emerging Leader Program” that provide women the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Also, 35 percent of its executive team being comprised of women.

  • Best Overall: EarthLink, which was cited for its talent acquisition and development processes, cross-functional training, and leadership development series.
  • “Georgia employers are increasingly recognizing the value of leveraging women in executive positions,” said WIT President Kasie Scott Palmer, Vice President of Customer Advocacy at Computer Associates, in a statement. “By honoring those companies that support the advancement of women in their technology careers, WIT hopes to aid both women searching for those employers, as well as employers seeking to enhance the role of women in their companies.”
