Red Hat is trying to encourage more enterprise users to choose its Enterprise Linux offerings through a new offering called Runtime Partner.
Runtime is part of Red Hat’s Partner Community efforts. Partners are encouraged to combine open source technology like Linux with other offerings.
“Industry suppliers of hardware, software and integrated solutions now have more freedom to utilize standards-based, open software.” said Mike Evans, vice president of Partner Development at Red Hat, in a statement. “A standards-based infrastructure is one that is more secure, manageable and scalable.”
The Runtime Program offers the option to use Red Hat Enterprise Linux to replace proprietary embedded solutions and internally developed operating systems in order to develop integrated solutions.
Adopters of Red Hat Runtime include Discreet Systems, Glenayre and Storage Computer Corporation.
