PITTSBORO,Biolex, a biotechnology company focused on protein therapeutics, and Centocor are expanding their relationship.
Biolex says Centocor, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, wants to research two additional proteins with Biolex. That raises the number under study to six.
The Biolex Lex System, which is built around the aquatic plant lemna, genetic engineering and protein recovery, is being used in the research. Financial terms were not disclosed. If a commercial line is created, Centocor has the option to have Biolex begin manufacturing.
