IBM has agreed to pay at least $300 million to settle certain claims in a complex age-bias lawsuit, NewsFactor reports. In August 2003, a federal judge in Illinois ruled that IBM’s conversion to a cash-balance pension illegally discriminated against older workers. That is the core allegation in the class-action lawsuit that IBM is still appealing.
