WILMINGTON,Verizion Wireless formally dedicated its $30 million call center in Wilmington on Wednesday and reaffirmed its commitment to hire 1,200 people before the end of next year.

“Verizon Wireless’ focus is providing customers with the best nationwide wireless network and customer service in the industry,” said Anthony Bowman, director of Customer Service for the Wilmington call center. “This new center will help us to continue delivering on that promise as we achieve record- breaking customer growth and retention.”

The center covers 160,000 square feet and already houses nearly 900 employees.
