William Mattern is the new chairman and Barbara Archbold is the new president of the board of directors for the North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance.
Mattern is a professor of medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill. Archbold is the strategy and change executive for IBM Business Consulting Services.
NCHICA also added several new board members: Martha Adams, clinical chief of general internal medicine at Duke University Health System; Gary Bowers, executive director of the Western North Carolina Health Network; David Dillehunt, vice president of information systems at FirstHealth of the Carolinas; Jean Foster, administrator of health information management services at the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina; David Kirby, a consultant with Kirby Information Management Consultant in Durham; Katherine McGinnis, deputy director for programming at Eastern Area Health Education Center; and David Wellons of BellSouth.
