CipherTrust, a developer of security applications for email and other messaging applications, says it will support the Sender ID Framework in the next release of its IronMail product.

The Sender ID is an emerging industry standard for the countering of email domain spoofing and prevention of phishing.

SenderID is a combination of Micrsoft’s Caller IF for Email plan and other specifications called Sender Policy Framework (SPF) and Submitter Optimization.

“CipherTrust’s commitment to incorporate the Sender ID Framework into IronMail will expose Sender ID to some of the largest companies in the world given CipherTrust’s strong customer base,” said Craig Spietzle, director of industry and partner relations of the Safety Technology Strategy Group at Microsoft, in a statement. “The support CipherTrust has demonstrated for email authentication technologies has proven critical in the fight against spoofing and phishing, and we look forward to standing with them on the front lines.”

CipherTrust introduced its SPF anti-spoofing and anti-phishing protocol earlier this year.

CipherTrust also issued a study describing the growing number of Fortune 1000 companies that are deploying email authentication protocols. For details, see:
