ALPHARETTA,Proxima, a developer of technology to deliver radiation internally, has received a patent for its process to be used in treatment for spinal metastases.
Metastases is the development of secondary tumors at a distance from the primary site of a cancer.
The company already owns a patent for its inflatable balloon catheter process to deliver radiation therapy for treatment of breast and brain cancer.
Promixma said the spine is the most frequent site for bone metastases.
