Royal Canadian Mounted Police Launch Criminal Probe into Nortel

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police advised Nortel on Monday that the company’s finances are under criminal investigation.

Nortel said it received a letter from the Integrated Market Enforcement Team that the probe was underway.

“These matters have been the subject of an ongoing review by the RCMP,” Nortel said in a statement. “Nortel Networks will continue to cooperate fully with the RCMP in connection with the investigation.”

Nortel has already made several executive changes and is examining its finances back to 2001.
