eNC, MCNC, Sprint and other partners will announce Tuesday a major network initiative to expand broadband access in eastern North Carolina.

The project will include more than $14 million in infrastructure, according to media reports.

Also included in the partnership are the Albemarle-Pamlico Economic Development Corp., which installed a fiber conduit in the region, and the Golden Leaf foundation.

Details will be announced at a press conference in Greenville, NC.

eNC is the new name of the Rural Internet Access Authority, which was chartered by the General Assembly of North Carolina to build public and private partnerships for broadband access across the state.
