The use of web services may have gotten a major boost on Wednesday as several leading tech firms endorsed a web-services specification as WS-Addressing, according to News Factor. BEA Systems, IBM, Microsoft, SAP and Sun Microsystems submitted the standard to the World Wide Web Consortium.

“The group said WS-Addressing is designed to allow companies to build reliable and interoperable web services applications by defining a standard mechanism for identifying and exchanging web-services messages between multiple end points,” NewsFactor reported.
